As we get ready to kick off fall ministries, there are lots of upcoming events starting with Blessing of the Backpacks at worship August 21. Click on the Title of this post (Upcoming Events) to see times and dates for fall ministries.
Blessing of the Backpacks – Sun., August 21
Have your child bring their backpack to church with them on Sunday, August 21. During the Children’s Message we will have a blessing of the backpacks for this up-coming school year. It is a fun way to tie faith to daily life!
Confirmation Guide Orientation – Wed., August 24, 6-8 p.m.
All adults who will be confirmation guides during the 2016-17 year are asked to attend our orientation meeting August 24th from 6-8 p.m. We will get to know one another as Guides and make sure we have a clear understanding of our Goals of our Confirmation ministry, our Values, and the Guide’s role within that framework. We are still in need of several volunteers, so if you are interested in being a Guide or have questions, please contact Sonja Gerstenberger, Director of Faith Formation.
Confirmation Kick-Off for Parents, Youth, and Guides – Wed., August 31, 6-7 p.m.
We kick off our Confirmation ministry year August 31st at 6 p.m. Parents, youth and Guides are asked to attend as we go over the details for the year including our calendar, service expectations and acolyting responsibilities. If you have a child entering 7th grade in the fall and have not registered, please contact Sonja Gerstenberger, Director of Faith Formation.
St. Peter Choir Kicks Off – Wed. August 24 at 7 p.m.
It’s almost time to gear up the St. Peter Adult choir and sing a joyful noise! Choir practice will begin on Wednesday, August 24 at 7 p.m. For those who would like to sing in the choir for the first time or will be rejoining choir, please contact Rita Rosenberg at 515-249-3593 so she can prepare a music folder for you.
Sunday School Begins September 11 – Volunteers Needed
The first day of Sunday school will be Sunday, September 11. Sunday school is open to children who turn 3 by September 15, 2016 through adults. It takes about 25 volunteers every Sunday to provide our children’s program. Volunteers are needed to be Shepherds or Teacher. If you would like to volunteer or have questions contact Jill Capps.
