Sunday School
Exploring the Story of God's Love
All children age three through high school are invited to join us for Sunday School Sundays from 9:15.m. – 10:15a.m. (September-May), following the 8 a.m. worship service. We connect with God’s word, each other, and caring adults in loving community at St. Peter Lutheran Church.
If your child has not attended Sunday school at St. Peter before please email sundayschool@stpeterofgrimes.org so we can register your child. (It’s ok to show up and register them on Sunday as well.)
Three year-olds through 4th Grade engage in fun, interactive, multi-sensory experiences using the Rotational lesson program to get youth excited about God’s Word. Lessons are taken from the Old and New Testament through games, art, music, and science to accommodate all the different ways kids learn. The Old Testament stories are presented in the fall quarter and the New Testament stories are presented in the winter and spring quarters. Christmas and Easter stories are included in the lesson sequence each year.
5th and 6th Grade classes journey through the Bible, the Old Testament and into the New Testament, exploring the connections between several stories each week. These classes help set the foundation for the confirmation, the next important steps in the students’ faith journeys. In addition, this class focuses on the overarching theme of “Love God, Love People” seeking ways in which they can show their love to God and others.
7th grade through 12th grade meet the 1st Sunday of the month use a self-directed study led by caring adults. On the 2nd through 5th Sundays, these students assist with the younger students in their classrooms.
Music is a vital part of our Sunday school program, and the kids enjoying sharing music with the congregation.
